Icon2 Chipped ecu re-install

A little while back I was having trouble with my chipped p06 ecu. I was stuck in limp mode and it was throwing a code 4 for ckp. while this was happening I had unplugged other sensors to see if my ecu would process the fault code, it did. My obd1 conversion harness had weakend solder joints an I noticed several were just starting to fall off. I didn't want to risk anymore so I took out my dsm 450's and threw the stock injectors back in, and my p28 stock ecu, also unhooked my charge pipe w/ blow off valve. now my car runs great in stock form.
I had recently purchased a new obd1 conversion harness, loaded a stock basemap onto my chipped ecu. Even with the new harness I still am in limp mode. Just trying to troubleshoot my ecu. It doesent seem to be fried if it processes new fault codes when im unplug them. Does anyone have any advise for me? would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Do you have something like the ELD or knock sensor enabled but it's not available for the P06? Why not chip the P28? Code 4 is usually the distributor or on OBD2 there can be the external crank sensor or whatever it is called. Seems very weird. Maybe you have bad solder points on the ECU? Post some pics of it. Upside down chip? haha

If you put the stock p28 with same is distributor and didn't get a code 4. It is most likely the problem ecu not functioning properly.

^I agree

open the case on your chipped ecu and check every solder joint at the board for the ecu plug pins, sometimes over the years vibration and repeated ecu plug removal can cause them to come loose

Me too, but if it's not an option just go over the chipping inside the other ECU a couple times and make sure it's all good.

Thanks everyone I will check my ecu over and if I get no luck I'll start looking at getting a chipped p28.

Yes no code 4 and no limp mode to have to endure when I put my stock ecu in. Runs great with the same dizzy and stock ecu. Safe mode with the p06. I can't stand safe mode. Drives me crazy. Lol. I'll look at all the solder joints tonight.

you said you already have a p28. we're telling you to just get THAT chipped because you know the ecu itself is good. no need to buy a whole new ecu

Sorry bro but it was a typo it's a P2E, that's weird. So I would still need a P2E ecu then right because they're better than a p06?

if you already have the p28 then chipping it.

The p28 is more easy because is original vtec but a good chipped and socketed p06 work as well as the p28.

Well the reason I bought the p06 is because I'm running a non vtec motor. The ecu was working great for about 1.5 yrs then just **** on me mid pull on a Tiburon. Still beat him. he kept coming back for more. lol. I think it was an NA motor in it.

the P2E is an obd2 ecu, you cannot chip those or tune them in any manner.

Agreed. Definitely have to make the P06 work or actually get a P28.
