Default Refurbished Items....

Are Refurbished items worht buying when it comes to Audio/Video? Cause I found a really nice Refurbished CD player and was wondering if its worth it cause they don't make them anymore and its about 400 bucks cheaper than what it was when they were new. Is this worth it?

Many people dont like the idea of refurbished items, i personally think that they are excellent. The only thing with refurbished items is that they are cosmetically damaged, but other than that they are usually very good quality (assuming its a quality component anyway).

When they are refurbished, they are tested to make sure they perform as if they were new, which is actually more testing than even new products go through.

So, so make a long story short, if you dont mind cosmetic blemeshes, then refurbished items are the way to go.

So they come with cosmetic damage? Or do they fix the cosmetic damage and repalce them with new parts?

It depends on why they were being refurbished in the first place, a manufacturer may run into a problem with a particular model of unit in their lineup, [ units start coming in with the same warranty problem] they will pull all the units, [even brand new ones from their dealers] out of the market and do the repair, and then put them back in the market as "referbs" as they are not allowed to to sell them as "new", [because they are not] Alpine has been doing this for as long as I can remember, they called them "gray box Alpine" it was the same box, but it was inside out, [printing on the inside] I have a "referbed" Alpine, it was brand new, other then the resister that was replaced.
If you can, just have a look at the unit, or ask if it has any "cosmetic damage" 94
