Default In-Dash DVD...

Alright, Im wanting everyones opinions on indash DVD systems...... Kenwood has an Excelon 1 Din Unit w/ a screen that flips up...and then there's clarion that has a 1 Din Screen that stays up, and you have to buy the 1 Din DVD player....the good thing about the Clarion is that you can adjust the view of the Screen so it doesnt just point towards the rear seat.......id like to hear everyones feedback on which they'd get....

Well I like the Kenwood because this years model is an indash screen DVD/CD player. It is around 2300 bucks and that is probably the only thing bad about it.

thats the one i was refering to, its msrp is 2499, but ive seen them on ebay ranging from opened unused for 1300 to brand new sealed at 1600. its basically down to the screen features at this point.....no stores here carry these, so i cant judge them in person, so i have to go from text and pictures on the net...

Well I installed them in several cars already and I have never been disappointed.
If I had 800 bucks I could get one through dealer accomadations so if you want one maybe we can work something out. But that won't be going on for too long.

I just had my kenwood Excelon KVT910 DVD installed - its pretty dope.

As far as the ebay thing goes, I originallybought one off of a guy selling on ebay, sent him $1700, and he never sent the product. I filed a payment dispute with my credit card company and I finally got the money back, but it was a huge pain in the butt.

Also, Kenwood is really cracking down on internet sales, since they don't technically allow it. They have been bidding on the head units sold on ebay and not paying for them to actually catch and prosecute the "illegal" sales. They, in turn, refuse to warranty any problems of any Kenwood products that do not have a bill of sale from an autherized Kenwood dealer.

Hope that helps.

man, that sucks.........but i doubt kenwood can stop people from selling used, or open packaged items, they were already bought from them originally....but if its e-tailers doing it, then i can understand....but they shouldn't get pissed about second-hand merchandise.......next theyll start going to garage sales and pimp-slapping people for selling their old kenwood cassette deck for $5

LOL - I totally agree with your point. I was just saying to be careful when purchasing from e-tailers. Take their Ebay user ratings seriously, and remember that it will be alot harder to get the product warrantied without buying it from an authorized retailer.

this is true, but as steve offered me, i think im gonna get one from him, if he can....boy the day he emails me and says he has it, ill drop everything i do and go pick it up (he's not too far away from me...)
oh BTW Rev,
the indash does come with a TV tuner right? the display unit at the kenwood outlet here had an older model (907) and it came with tuner avail...it was 1299 new, and im thinking if it has a TV Tuner, there should be somewhere for A/V Jacks right? thhus eventually getting to the plugging up an entertainment system to it (Ps2, etc) w/ a power converter for the plug.........
right? in theory that is

Yes, the KVT910 comes with the TV tuner, and it does have A/V jacks to plug in whatever you want. I plan on doing a PS2 also someday . . . when my funds are replenished.

sweet....i dont think ill do a ps2, becuase the main reason id spend that much on a system is b/c of the dvd feature, which i wont really need....ill either wait til the price drops (around the time the gamecube and xbox) come out, and then slap it in my trunk........

You know of someone who actually got one through accomodation? I thought they were still on backorder. At least they still are on the east coast.

They are still on back order here too but the sooner your name goes to the Rep that you've paid the sooner your on the list and the sooner you get it.
It sucks that you have to pay for it first but you still have to wait.
