fastest nitrous b16 on street tires??
i'm just rying to get a rough guess of what a bolt on 75 shot of nitrous on a b16 in a 2200lb civic would do on REAL street tires, no Drag radials or slicks, timeslips would be appreciated if anyone has done this
the reason i ask is....my freind has a 1990 5.0 with all the bolt ons and a 100 shot and he says he'll race for ANY amount of money against my civic on street tires next time we go to the track, and i'm wondering if i have a chance since i've never ran my car at the track yet
thanks!
First of all, how can we possibly know what your car is going to run? I consider myself a decent driver, and my friend consistently gets .2-.3 tenths better than me in MY CAR! Too many things to consider. You have never been to the track before, so i say you will be raped by this guy. Bring the lube and get a fan because i think it is about to get hot in here. No offense
i know i'm a noob here but "rough estimate" is just that a simple "probably **.* second or so" would be fine, figure there are some guys in here who have run their b16 bolt on cars with nitrous and street tires and i would like to know what they run when they were at the track
and i never said I have never been to the track before, i have raced everything from mountain bikes to vintage porsches, was just asking for a "rough guess'
thanks

pretty sure you will be raped...i had a b16 on nitrous in a hatch it pulled mid to low 13's on the bottle...i also have a (stock except offroad x pipe)mustang 5.0 with a shot of nitrous and it will do a high 12 to low 13 on street tires...a lot really depends on the driver though

To be straight up bro the guy could misshift and still beat you man. I'm a big nitrous fan myself and i know street tires will be like on skates against that guy and you got to have atleast 30 more hp to even gain ground on teh guy even with a lighter car. I would tell the guy come race me for loot and we can run street tires in a 1 mile race instead of the 1/4.

1. take it to the dyno and get it tuned!
2. take it to the track and run it!

Exactly
Big problems with FWD and RWD same power same weight REAL WHEEL ALL DAY
MORE POWER in FWD = traction issues still in the quarter but in the MILE u will have plenty of time and power to pass him
do a much better test is a 60mph or 40mph roll, that will be your better chance
I konw cars that run street tires(drag radials) and turbo that have ran 1180s (me) built 2400 chassis my buddy complete stock ls w/turbo hatch 2450 chassis went 1220s, drag radials
And i ve seen same setup on cars w/slicks run slower times,
DRIVER Makes a difference
So does Power to weight (including the TRACTION issue)
ITS ALWAYS ABOUT TRACTION
tehre are many many 300 or lower HP cars that will be 400 hp cars on street and/or track at times
due to TRACTION problems
