Default H22A distributor question

I just swapped in a JDM motor, tranny & used the JDM distributor. When we attempted to start it, it sounded 180 degrees out of phase. But, this distributor won't let us adjust timing, do I need to use the USDM distributor? It also sounded like it was running on only 2 cylinders...

if your going to uses the jdm, dizzzy.. its internal coil.. so if your using a usdm wireing harness you nees to rewire it from the external coil... i just got done doing this and its not a huge deal.

Also according to the manual the H22 is designed so that the distributor can only go in one way so you can't put it in 180 degrees out of phase.

Actually, I used an MSD cap to help w/the external coil setup, but thanx 4 tha info, I didn't think I could flip the 180. Now, I just gotta figure out why she won't start.

i just went through the starting problem process. Check your coil, get your ignitor tested, inspect your cap and rotor, make sure your coil wire has resistance via multimeter, make sure that the agc-s fuse is not blown. It is the number 4 position fuse in the fuse box behind the driver side left kick panel. Bottom row 5 to the right.

Finally figured it out boys. A bad wire from the ignition to the coil. Now she fires up, just can't stay on. We just have to adjust the throttle. This would of been so much smoother if I didn't break the bank & bolted up a bunch of aftermarket parts along w/the JDM/5-spd swap. Oh, well. Time to break her in!
