Well...its been nice...S200Owned
Over the last couple of days ive been dealing with insurance this that and the other...and havnet really had a chance to get pictures so i was waiting to post about it, but as of monday of this week, the S2000 has take a trip to heaven...guy cut my wife off, clipped her front bumper on her way home from work and sent the car into a large stone/brick wall...insurance did their thing, but the car suffered some fairly severe damage to the front end, frame rails or whatever they are, and axles...cooling system was really damaged as was the a/c system...car wasnt exactly straight anymore so it was totalled.
Wife is fine, came out of it with a sprained ankle, sprained right wrist and swollen collar bone. She had some bruising on her chest from the airbag and alot of abrasions and rash from hitting whatever she did during impact...nice little laceration on her hand but i didnt require stitches so she's lucky over all, just sore and irritated...but ok over all thank god.
Just got some pics of it today...sucks to see but oh well, it was a blast while we had it. We will probobly go back to one sometime in the future, but as it sits now, we're going to go with something else...wife has been wanting an Infiniti FX45 for sometime so we're going to go look at those...i think she just wants something bigger and more comfortable for a daily, but maybe in a couple of years we'll go back to the little roadster.
Anyways...really stinks but the car for hitting a wall at like 45mph held up pretty well. And in case anyone is going to ask for stuff off the car...we're not getting anything off of it, its already been taken by the insurance company and i just wasnt interested in buying it back from them to make a profit off of parts...just wanted to be free of it and move on, but did take the shifter **** which was sent to my buddy over in the UK that ive known for years that wanted it...so just to save some time, parts off of it are a no go...maybe check the salvage boards or something down the road if the insurance sells it.

And in case anyone was wondering, there was various cosmetic damage to the rear end, both tails were cracked and the rear bumper was damaged pretty bad, rear mufflers and tips were damaged pretty bad...all rims had some if not alot of curb rash...
Glad your wife made it out ok. There was some post on S2ki about larger cars not being able to see our low-riding roadsters. I was almost another victim a few days ago, also.Personally, I really don't like the FX's. My mother's got an '04 MDX, and it's really posh. Great interior, lots of room, DVD/NAV, etc. One thing about SUV's, though--crappy MPG. Good luck with the new car purchase.
Oh, I need your rims, stat!!!!
Yeah...we've always liked the style of the FX, and we drove a few of them and she likes them, but we're looking at a few options...gotta wait until the check comes through and processes before we can actually buy something so i figure we have about 1.5 weeks to get it all setup and do some browsing...she just wants something with 4doors (since we're planning to have a kiddo soon), and we want something that is a little more usable than a little 2 seater roadster...nothing wrong with it but right now it just doesnt do much for us...as far as gas mileage, i used to have a 4-Runner fo the longest time, and really, if the thing can get 18-22mpg average, thats fine because thats not much less than either the s2000 or bimmer are/were getting us at any given time.
We WILL buy an S2000 again though...damn fine car.

Yeah...this guy said "I didnt even see her..." But he was driving a freakin' little toyota car (no idea what it was, tercel or something) and i mean really, while it MIGHT have happened, the car is bright koolaid man hell fire red...it doesnt "blend" in with anything else, its like freakin' yellow, you just dont MISS the car that is this color.
Oh well...atleast he stuck around and didnt drive off, his car was so rashed up from what i guess are previous accidents that they probobly would have never found it...but as it looks, he might not have had insurance, which is ok, because we have an emergency deductible fund we put away in cases where we'd have to pay it, and i'll just pay it and let them refund it back to me if they ever get it out of him...not big loss for me, not worth $250 to go to court and try to take what he has if anything.
Atleast their giving more than what we owed for the car though...that was pretty cool, all the double payments we made were well worth it!

If all works as it seems...they may just take the $250 out of the check cut, which would still leave us with a good bit of money for a down payment on something else. Heres hoping.

If they gave me that, I would have bought it back and salvaged it for track use. I think your buy back price from the insurance would've been high.
What happened to the windshield?

Nah...not right now, maybe in a year or two we'll get another NFR, until then though, we are getting away from the 2 seater roadster market.

lol...buy back on it was $7,800, which is probobly a decent deal because the engine was fine except the cooling system will need some parts...but i just dont want anything to do with that.
The windshield is actually kind of interesting...we couldnt figure out what it was when i got to the scene before going to the hospital to meet my wife...turns out when she slid sideways, she hit the curb which tossed the car in the air for a second and she actually hit the windshield and mirror with her wrist (which explains the sprain...thankfully no break)...so one of them is her wrist hitting the windshield...one of them is the mirror being forced off backwards from the windshield...pretty crazy!
Today we went and got a couple of things that were under the seat she forgot...and i actually pryed off one of those little door sill plates that say "S2000 Manufactured in Japan" or whatever it says...that combined with the good key that came with it (whcih is still at the house)...we're gonna have nice little mementos of it.

They usually make you return all the keys if you don't buy it back. I have mine also.
Crazy **** that your wife broke the windshield with her wrist. Don't let her hit you with the good one, you might end up worse than that windshield.
7,800 is steep for the buy back. I've seen less damaged car, windshield intact, bought back for ~5k.

Yeah...seemed kinda steep to me too, but its immaterial because we dont really want it back anyways, im not really into cars enough to repair it back to driveable condition, and i dont really have the room or patience for a wrecked S2000 at my house. Im sure someone will get some good use out of that F22, though we did beat on it quite often.
They asked for everything we had for it...i gave them the valet key and the one key that is all black...they said thats all they needed (remote too)...they asked if it had another key and i said yeah but it was lost months and months ago while we were vacationing in orlando...guy said "Oh ok, thats fine, i'll just make a copy of this one..." hahaha, awesome though is that we never used that nicer key with the metal top on it, so its brand spanking new...

S2000 wasnt paid off...but it was in the positive as far as equity goes which is awesome cause we're getting back a nice down payment for the next car...the ball has begun to roll with the FX35...and our plans are if we keep the FX35, summer of 2006 we're going to go buy a used AP1...not that i think they are better than the AP2, but i think we can have more fun with it since by then it'll be much cheaper.
Im gonna stick around though, cause im still a huge fan...hopefully by next year we'll have some pictures of our infiniti towing our AP1 to the track or something...

how much for the wheels??
how much for the wheels??
^^^ Boy was that clever!
Honestly though, even if i could have got them, nobody would have wanted them, the rear wheels were both bent visually that i could see and one tire was deseated...the fronts were just rashed up in various places and stuff...
