there has been a lot of debate on this subject, however no matter what it needs to be at least 12" from the throttle body. It is debatable but a lot of people(all the people who matter) would say on the hot side of the intercooler is the best place for the bov, meaning ON the intercooler.

I have mine on the hot side. I figured that if I have to blow off some air, it would have to be hot air instead of cold air.

But again, thats just me. I don't know if it helps or not.

thats one good reason to have a bov on the hot side, but its supposed to be the best place to prevent compressor surge(air going against the turbo)

I seriously doubt it matters. There are just as many people making great numbers and having good reliablity with it on the cold side as there are with the hot side. As far as someone opting to blow off hot air instead, it really wont matter since its all passing through the intercooler anyway.

I think it is probably more efficient near the turbo on the hot side, but you can put it on the cold side and be just fine. Mine is going on the cold side, but if I wasn’t running a/c I would run a backdoor w/ it on the hot side.

If youre running enough boost you could have one on each side of the IC. Ive seen some high boost Supras with it. I have mine on the cold side, about 12" from the TB.
