Tach cluster swap - temp gauge pegged.
I got a tach cluster from a "u-pull-it" salvage yard. The donor was a 92 EX 4dr 5sp.
I put it in my 94 hb dx 5sp. Everyting works but the temp gauge is maxed out (no, the car isnt that hot - the stock cluster worked fine) I went back to the bone yard and got the temp sending unit, but the same thing (duh) Did I get a bad cluster, or am I missing something? Everything ive read here and everywhere else says its plug-n-play. bad cluster?

the same thing happened with my cluster swap. the temp needle needs to be calibrated. with the cluster in your car, take the clear plastic cover off, then warm up your car. GENTLY pull the temp needle off, then reposition it about 1/3 the way from the bottom.

Ive been searching around forever to try and solve my problem with my si cluster swap into my dx hatch on Honda-Tech...... but cant find what I was looking for.
Can anyone help me figure out why the wiring harness from my dx is not the same as the female inlets of the si cluster that I picked up? Everything fits but the final yellow male end, right in the centre of the cluster backing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Do you have a jdm cluster? Yellow is SRS. I remember reading somwhere that jdm clusters do not have plugs for SRS.

Please remove your 18"s. Probably why you need to fill up too.

There is no reason you should have to reposition the needle, unless somebody else tried to do the same thing before you and messed it up. I would just buy a new temp gauge and swap it out. Should be less than 30 bucks at hondaparts.com
