Default LS VTEC help

i decided to swap a ls block into my 00 SI im planing on using my same head just machine it to fit the block.. i heard early today that if i plan on doing this swap i have to go with a 96 block or newer cuz obd1 blocks dont have a place for a crank position sensor... is this true? in addition what ecu modifications would i have to do if ne with mine? if you guys could share ur comments i would highly appreciate it thx

i would rather just stroke ur engine..and bore ur sleeves if u dont go turbo..
