Default Headers..... Does brand name = better performance/quality???????????

Bottom line, are name brand headers better than the cheaper ones?

The dc sports, apexi etc....... worth the extra money????

I can get a pacesetter, ractive, dc-m (dc knockoff) for 150-200 vs 350-400 for the name brand ones.

A little advice here please.
Thanks
Steven

I don't know about the others but I had Chikara and it's very good to me ( just don't look nice , tho. )

Something like an APEXi header has gone through a lot of R&D, whereas you can bet most the cheapos havn't.
BUT, if your gonna buy cheap than look for a knockoff. Will perform about the same as the original, but just sometimes the welds arent as neat, the metal is thinner, etc.

OBX products usually look/perform pretty good from what i've seen, and the reason being is that most of their stuff is copied. It all comes down to what you can afford.

Thats my whole take on the aftermarket scene in general.

well i can afford the name brand stuff, but is it worth the extra 200-300 bucks????

I may just pickup the obx knockoff if you have seen good results. As long as it flows better than stock I dont care. for performance, I just get on the bike. I would stay with the stock d16y8 manifold if it didnt have a big ole crack in it.

I've never personally used an OBX header, but from what i've seen. If all your looking for is a replacement for stock, just about anything will be better.

And kind of off-topic, but what all did erion do to your bike?

my friend got pacesetter headers for his car and they suck as far as the weld quality and how they dont even come close to matching the ports on the heads. he had to get them rewelded and had to take a lot out to make them flow good and because of that, he had to get them rewelded again and the headers are painted black

i just got a DC and it matches the ports on the head perfectly and the welds look awesome....and its ceramic coated rather than painted

i guess it depends on if you want/need the header to last a while and perform really good, or just good-

Erion cams, titanium valve springs, 5 angle valve job and a port/polished intake/exhaust ports. It was one of their spare race motors from 98 with a little extra added after they were done

And for the header, well I found a really good deal on a used DC sports ceramic header.

I had a chikara header and it was ok. I don't know if I gained or lost power with it. Pick up a DC header because from what I have seen they are the best bang for the buck.

It will be fine. You can buy it now and swap it over to the new head when you do your swap.

Oh yea DC sports makes a decent 4-1 header. Kamakazi makes a 4-1 header that is good with a supercharger or heavy NA mods.
