Home made cold air box/shield
The thought of sucking up water into my brand new (to me) B16A didn't really appeal to me and a hot air intake just wouldn't do. I had some 16 gauge sheet metal laying around so I decided to fab this up. It's far from perfect, flux core welded and all, but it fits good and stays firmly in place.
After cutting my CAI in half :

And the finished box :

As you can somewhat see in the 3rd pic, I took the remaining half of the CAI and fitted it in such a way that it directs outside air into the box/shield. I also took some left over header wrap and covered the intake tube with it (may or may not do **** but I had nothing to lose).

Here is a better pic of the fresh air inlet. It exits right under the air filter.

And I know my engine bay is dirty. That's a canadian daily driver for ya. I clean it once every spring, no point trying to keep that spotless beyond that.

I know in the past people have suggested placing an air horn on the end of the pipe(similar to the pic minus the bolted on section at the back of the piece) so air will be directed into the piping. You can usually get one at the parts store for a v-8 header hookup for real cheap. I painted mine black to match the bumper so you couldn't see it.
Wow thats really nice, was planning to do the same thing on my integra.
Stupid question for you guys, I have those stupid brackets on my wheel well arch, whats a good way of removing it since Im trying to make a fully enclosed box?

I don't know if a velocity stack would help me any since the "box" is not sealed up around the filter (so that I don't suck up water or choke it off with snow). The tubing is less for a ram air effect than to supply lower temperature air to the filter's surrounding area.
Thanks for the compliments guys
Sifu ; got any pics of those brackets? I'm not sure I understand what your talking about...

I have that too, that's where I secured my inlet pipe. If it's in the way just take a drill to the spot welds. Or you can integrate it in your design ; it's a pretty good attachment point.
I see what your getting at. Maybe I'll just remove the left bracket and then use the right one like yours and use it to secure my intake.
You dont mind posting a pic of what the inside of the box looks like do you? I want to see how you integrated the bracket into your design and how you integrated that fat piece of wire as well.
Im guessing your box is not fully enclosed then??
[EDIT]Reading ownz me
