Default Looking to build a 180 whp ls/vtec motor

OK i am looking to make around 190 or so with some stock honda parts. This is my set-up so far. Can anyone give me some tips on things i should and shouldnt do.
Bottom end:
LS block hot tanked cleand blue printed and balanced
Crank micro polished and balanced
manley rods
CTR pistons
ITR oil pump and water pump

Head:
GSR
omni man valve train
CTR and ITR cams
3 angle head job
Skunk2 cam gears

These are the main things of my build clutch and flaywheel will be act. my tranny is a ITR with the LSD. As for fuel rail, regulater and injectors i havent really given much thought. So what should i change and what do i need to make better. Thanks all

do you realize how high your comp will be with CTR pistons and GSR head?

it'll be risky running that with pump gas. actually it could be done if you don't beat on it too much.

with a good tuner.. and a good tune you can beat on it as much as you want.. what octane do you have around you?

Here in ohio i can get 120 octane but i would have to go the the drag strip or get it off of a race team. But i was thinking of running 110 octane with this set-up

no i dont really i havent put the numbers together its just a head a friend of mine has setting around. would a B16 head be a better choice.

If i was u i would get some pr3 or p30 pistons. U can alwasy raise your comp by getting a 2-layer headgasket in the future if u decide to get some bigger cams.

with a gsr head your compression is going to be 13 or so with a b16 head its 12.8.. im doing a ls vtec with ctr's but with a b16 head i like those better for some reason

Does Manley make a press in rod? If not who is going to cut the circlip grooves in the pistons?

You would need to cut for spriolox unless you plan to chamfer the end of the pins to run round wire circlips.

Can someone elaborate on circlips and spirlox? Would CP pistons and eagle rods have any issues with either circlips or spirlox whatever they may be?

Circlip (c-clip) is that circular wire that locks the piston pin in place.

Not sure bout the spriolox thing but I am thinking its similar to a C-clip. Just different pistons use them.

Sounds better, get the ACL race bearings. And why use 3 diff mfg. for your valve train? If you have problems, they can each blame the other. I really like the Sk. Pro2's but you do need a goog head and intake to see all the high RPM gaines.

looks to me that you've done your research before jumping in on a post. you'll make your expected numbers. i'm making 175whp with these mods.

1998 B18B Block (honed, hot tanked, and thoroughly inspected)
LS Crank (balanced {cam to flywheel} and micropolished)
Modified ITR Main, Rod, and Thrust Bearings

LS Rods (ARP lock bolts)
B18C5 P73 Pistons (New)
P73 Piston Rings

B16 Head reconditioned w/new valve job,etc...
ITR Oil and Water pumps (New)
ITR Crank pulley
LS Oil pan, windage tray, and pickup

Hondata Intake Manifold gasket
All brand new OEM gaskets and seals for top and bottom end

The block cleaned with a fresh hone, decked, and bored out .25 for oversized pistons.

As for the ECU, i went p28 Hondata s200.

here's my thread.. check it out

I want to see what a gsr block with ls crank, ls sized crower rods, Cp pistons. i want to make so where around 190 or so and i want to be able to beat the crap out of my motor and still have the room to drive it some places.

Very good thread, Ernald...I'm gathering parts for something very similar (but I'm going straight B18b-ITR pistons overbored, B18b head for the winter.)
