Lower ball joint spinning?
Ok so here I go with the new project but first comes already when I'm trying to tighten the castle nut on the lower ball joint. The whole lower ball joint is spinning, does this mean it's shot? Do I need a new replacement ball joint? Also how much do I need to remove so I can press it out, lucky my dad has a press machine.
what's the average price for lower ball joints and best place to buy it.
Any help would be appreciated.

no its not shot! the ball joints actually tapered so the more you squeeze them together like the guy sed above....then you sure be good. if anything...support the lca with a brick, jack or whatever...then have another person put all their fat *** weight on the spindle...and try it! good luck

NO, that does not mean it's shot. have someone put some weight on top of it while you tighten it.

I tried having sombody using pressure and a clamp but no luck. That sucka is just spinning freely, rusted up threads aren't helping either.
It's hard for me to believe that the ball joint isn't shot, it's not design to spin is it??? I've never heard of this happening to the newer cars.
Ok questions about all these unheard of websites that carries these OEM replacements. Are they a big buisness or somebody just selling off his trunks and can afford a website. I hate buying from ebay and kids with license to have a buisness, get what I'm saying.
anyways thanks.

Yes ball joints are made to spin, that's what they're there for, so that the suspension can turn as you steer the wheels and the suspension moves up and down at the same time.
Are you trying to REMOVE the castle nut or put it back on? Take a floor jack or scissor jack and place it under the LCA and start raising it up. Raise it until that corner of the car just about ready to come off the jackstand. That means the full weight of the car is on that corner, and the LCA and spindle will be pressed together. Now try to remove or tighten the nut. Some PB Blaster on the threads might help, also.
Also if you're trying to tighten the nut, remove it first and clean off the threads with something like a Dremel with a wire wheel bit.

Trying to put it back.......
Oh I see, ok I'll try that next, maybe I just might not have to spend that extra 40 bucks on new ball joints..
