You need an 8mm non tapered punch and a hammer. You then can bang it out and pull the linkage off. You could always use a screwdriver but that might get tough especially if the pin gets stuck in there.
the perfect bolt for taking the shift linkage's PIN out ...is using an AC compressor's mounting bolt. Yeah, the long one (I think it's a 12mm or 14mm bolt). Get one, a hammer, some WD-40, and pound away...and it should come right out.
Yeah....don't plan on ever re-using that A/C bolt again though. You can also use a 5/16 straight (non-tapered) punch which may be more widely available than 8mm. (The 5/16 punch is .003" smaller in diameter than the 8mm.)
make sure you dont shoot that little pin halfway across the garage like I did..... Its not the easiest thing to find, and you will need it when you put it all back together.
Just posting to say thank you ppl
