Default ITR headers on a GSR question.

I was told they are a little long and I would need a shorter cat, is this right?

That's what I would do, the thing about the GSR header is your going to have to get a custom cat or B pipe(test pipe.)

b pipe is the piece with the flange from the end of cat to the begining of the axle back.

I got a DC 2.5 header for ITRs, called up IPSRacing with what I needed for a cat and it fit perfectly. No need for any custom work.

It all depends on the year GSR you have, also, I am assuming you are talking about the JDM ITR 4-1. The USDM ITR header is the same measurement as any other LS or 00-01 GSR header.

For 94-99 you will need a shorter (~12" cat) and it will need either no or 1 o2 bung, depending on the year of your car. 94-95 will need no o2 in the cat anymore, since the JDM ITR has it in the collector, while in 96-99, you will need one o2 in the cat, and you will use the one o2 in the collector.

In 00-01, I believe the cat should be around 15-16", and you will use one o2 in the cat, and one in the collector. PM username BSQ, or search for a response to a similar thread. He has a 94 or 95 GSR and had pictures and measurements for his JDM ITR 4-1 header setup. Of course, the measurements will be a little off for the newer GSRs (00-01). You could also ask kteller8 or SMSP to make the cat for you, and they will know the exact dimensions you will need.

Edit - here is that thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1359749

You didn't mention but if your GSR is a 00-01 the header is the same length as the ITR/LS. Otherwise I think it's something like 3 inches in length difference.

yes I did, but only for the USDM ITR header, I am betting this guy is going with the JDM ITR which will be different for all applications, 94-99 or 00-01.

'96 GSR. that's what I have.

edit: I just read that post. So it sounds like me being a 96 GSR i need a 12" cat for the 4-1 JDM headers. And it sounds like the ITR cat is 12" so...

I just need to buy the header and cat?

I was refering to the OP not you

I didnt read for your first sentence just the rest whoops lol

If you don't want to buy a new cat you can just take it to a muffler shop and get it rewelded for prolly 50 bux (maybe less) or so.

And yeah, is this a USDM or JDM ITR header?

QUOTE]

Yes, you need to buy the header and cat, but the USDM ITR cat is not 12", it is the same as any other 00-01 gsr or 94-01 LS, you want to buy a custom made 12 inch cat with one o2 bung, similar to the pic posted above.
