Default ZC or D16A8?

i just had a swap done to my crx this weekend...i went to JPR motors in La Habra and i paid for a DOCH ZC right...well since i was at work i didn't pick up the car, a friend of mine did...i didn't see the car until a couple of hours later...now the problem is that when i looked at the engine code it wasn't a ZC...this guy had swapped a D16A8 which to my knowledge comes off the 88-89 integra LS with about 130hp...am i right on that?...anyways they wont be open again until monday and imma complain for sure...but the hp difference isn't that much between the ZC and my A8 is it? is there any really big differences between the two? i used to have the stock SI motor in my crx and new A8 doesn't feel that much stronger...should i really bug him to swap in a real ZC? besides the fact that he lied to me? is the A8 worth as much as a ZC? any suggestions would help...thanks...

You got the right thing..The d16a8,d16a9,and dohc zc are the same thing..I think the a8 and a9 come from edm cars though..And the d16a8 has a funny looking valve cover..

The early usa integras have d16a1 blocks..And they dont bolt in like the zc motors do..

I got my dohc zc at the same place at JPR. THey are good people. When I bought my motor, Jimmy actually compression checked each motor in front of me. When he was looking for a dohc zc for me I also saw him pull out the d16a8. And I was wondering the same thing until he explained that they are the same thing, only with a different valve cover. When I learned this I was hoping that he would give me the unique d16a8, but i ended up with the regular Jdm zc. I don't know if its true, but I read from a recent post that the Euro Zc (what you got) is slightly stronger than the Jdm Zc. It came out the Euro Rover. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1373999 Its pretty bad-*** if you ask me. Now I think you should put your worries aside and enjoy your motor.

yea the a8/a9 dual cam zc came from a car knowen as the rover gti 416.very nice car incaes u never seen one i was very suprised.it has lil more hp then the jdm zc a guy from the uk told me that they are undeerrated in the us.if u put that a8/a9 on a dyno it should be somewhere round 138 to 140hp.i have a a8 but i have never dynoed it.how much did u pay for it.i payed like 950 for the motor and a pm7 ecu,if i can recall right i think the motor was 545 just by itself.

hhhmm it must have been one out of the rover...the integra motor is a d16a1 and it has different mounts and isn't worth the time. You should be able to notice some difference? try running a pg7 ecu it has a better power band then the pm6.

i got 2 1/4 exhust with no cat on my d16a8,and to get the best power out of any motor u need to use the ecu that was fitted for the engine. dohc zc<<pm7 any other ecu will run it but it wont run like it should.

btw i have to add this 2 1/4 exhust with no cat on a dohc zc it will straight up scream after 3k,not like a ricey sound of deep *** exhust. sounds like a dual cam

what pm7 are you running because i have an older model pm 7.

also is it possible to use a pr4L10 ecu.

i barely bought a d16a8 and every body tells me it has less hp that a jdm zc is that true..

The D16A9 and D16A8 are basically the same engine, but the A8 has a catalysator. I´m not so sure about the specs on the ZC since those aren't available around here.
The D16A9/A8 have around 138hp stock.
