Shifter linkage
I was wondering is there is any way of eliminating the looseness that develops with time on the shifter. How can I make the shifter as tight or tighter than new. What parts would I need to fix this problem.

Depending on the year Civic you have. The part # for the ES Bushing set mentioned above will not fit all applications. I know b/c the 16.1101R shifter bushings didn't fit into my EH2 shift linkage.

For movement when you press the gas, replace the rubber bushing where the torque rod attaches to the transaxle. For side-to-side looseness, replace the bushings at the shifter.
Any Honda parts counter will have these in stock.

Get the Energy Suspension shifter bushings. I had the same problem and the new bushings fixed it 100%. I got it at summitracing.com. Not sure if you can get them at autozone though. Do a search for shifter bushings. There are two articles on how to change them by a member on here.
