Default shortshifter?

how much is a short shifter gonna help me out. Will it be hard on my tranny? Also why not just cut down the stock shifter, what else besides the obvious height is diff. about a shortshifter?

A shortshifter is more for shortening the 'throw' or distance between your gears (shifts).
So.. Here's an example...

Say your shift distance between 2nd & 3rd gear is 1 ft. then the 'shortshifter' will make the distance 6 in.

*This is just an example, NOT real measurements!!*

If you get an 'adaptor' then that would shorten the throw, not take away height difference. From everything I've read on these they are not recomended.

To shorten your throw & height difference you would want a completly new shifter 'bar', dunno what it's correctly called...

I know of two custom made short shifters:
http://www.pspectuning.com/
http://forbiddenmotorsports.com/

These are made for Prelude also, and others.
But PSpecTuning has not finished his new model for the '92 - '96 Prelude though, the '97 - '01 is finish though I believe.. He will hopefully have it finished before the years end.. As I am waiting on that one..
But they're both great products as far as I know and through what I have read.
Oh and these will also shorten the height difference from the stock height..
There's more to each shifter, but I'll let you read it since I'm at work.. ;P

Hope this helps!

4bidden short shifter pwnzor's all.

Actually, I bought one and am very happy with it. I've got it on the "race" setting, and I can shift through every gear only using my fingers. A friend of mine said it is very similar to the S2k shift, which is notoriously short.

Ohh, and don't be a *** and try to go cheap by buying a DC shift adapter. Pony up the 110 (somewhere around there atleast) and get an absolutely amazing peice you will never need to change again.

I second that ^. The 4bidden motorsports shifter is seriously awesome. I have it on my 4th generation Prelude. I don't have one on my 5th gen. I don't think 4bidden makes them for the 5th gen (yet?).

I've driven a 4th gen with the DC sports adapter, and it is nothing like the real thing.

So yeah just shell up the 150 and get the 4bidden short shifter. Worth way more than the price paid.

ad nauseum...

I love my FM short shifter. Had one since the first batch and couldn't be happier. Jeremy is a great guy to deal with.
