Default My $7 90 Civic Std Hatchback (sort of a rant/bragging rights)

My buddy's brother is going to Iraq, Infantry too , and his car broke down. Well my buddy (Nick), who is a Mechanic , didn't have time to work on it and really didn't want to. Him and his boss (who is against imports) took a quick peek at it but in the end I received a phone call from Nick telling me I could have the car if I could get it towed out of there ASAP (it was at his work and it was Tuesday night).

I asked for directions went out took a quick peek and looked fairly decent and said eh what the hell. The next night (Wednesday) I asked Nick to leave the keys in the car so I could do some diagnosing, and of course he forgot them. I go to work check main relay, checking fuses, made sure the timing belt was still on with a good amount of tension (since they thought timing jumped), and then made sure spark plug wires were going to the right place. Everything checks out so I 'm like shoot must be the dizzy (I had a spare one with me ) so I go to take it off can 't get it off . So I think for awhile what else I could check... (with no keys).

Pulled off the dizzy cap. Everything appears normal shoot for some reason I decide to grab the dizzy rotor and it moved (surprised the hell out of me). And then I notice the screw attach to a magnet in the distributor.

Haha next day call him up (thursday), since he wanted it out of there by that day, I tell him I will be driving it home . I could tell he was kinda pissed. Go and pick up the new rotor and screw and Checkers Auto Parts. Go out there with my brother, put the rotor in and then the BOSS of Nicks shop is like why are you messing with that crap (referring to an import, wanted to be able to work in his parking lot), cause gas prices are high. He walks away.

Put it in. Get the Keys (FINALLY). Turn it and.. vrmmmm!!!!

Here is my 7 dollar car. This makes it 3 EFs for my current collection
(its also up for sale , but I may keep it and drop a d16z6 in it )

First got it:

Started cleaning it up:

Done removing duct tape (well most of it):

The car has about 170k miles on it. Well maintained (completely stock except CD player and front speakers)

I am planning on replacing the front end since it has some damage and this car is pretty straight bodied. I may be painting it this winter if I can borrow a buddies garage.

If I dont' sell (which I really don't care if I do or don't) I plan to put a d16z6 swap in it mated with a 90 SI tranny, with d15b camshaft, cheap header, ebay intake. ahah pretty much just parts laying around.

Nothing really wrong with the car except minor rust and the front hood/fender damage, and other minor dents, also I am fabricating my own axle back exhaust (to cheap to buy one) I'll post some pics up of that. It is a pacesetter axle back with a 2001 Civic tip on it and a 90 Civic flange

PS: In the background is my brothers broke down 87 Accord LX-i freaking lca bolt won't come out spinning with the bushing

And you may notice my daily beater 90 CRX Si (rust owns it currently)

Interior is pretty clean. Last owner was a smoker but there is no stains or burns.

I got the nice blue leather interior . Only problem is a rip in the drivers seat, which kinda sucks cause all the junkyards are picked over

Might put my blue CRX seats in

haha oh man I will get those pics up for you. I actually had someone interested in getting out of the impound lot too. Don't know if they are for real or not. I need to find the tow company's number. Sucky thing is I only got night pics of the car .

For some reason I always take night pics.

As far as pricing goes I am taking offers. PM me so we can keep this thread technical and showing off
