after almost completely installing my turbo kit on my b16 i got down to the last item....the wastegate. where is the best place to run the vacuum line from the wastegate. thanx guys

 

Hook it up directly to manifold vacuum. Run seperate of any other vacuum line if possible to get the most accurate readings. Top vacuum port remains open to atmosphere unless a boost controller is used then fiollow those instructions.

it is running on the wastegate spring as of now, i will have a boost controler. i was thinking of tapping my upper charge pipe and just running it from there coming directly out of the manifold. would that work?

You could tap it right at the compressor outlet, but it's not same as hooking up your boost source somewhere after the TB.

Let me explain why:

Say you have a 10 psi spring...if you have it hooked up to the compressor outlet then your WG will open once the compressor is pushing 10 PSI. Now imagine you have your boost guge hooked up to your IM after the TB. Your intercooler and piping will cause a pressure loss of roughly 1-2 psi depending on how efficient it is. So say the boost coming out your compressor is 10 psi, but after the IC the pressure drops to 8 psi. 8 psi is what your boost gauge will read because it is measuring pressure AFTER the intercooler or where the pressure loss occured. So if you hook up your WG boost source to the IM, then the WG recieves the actual boost pressure AFTER IC and piping pressure losses.

 

Some hook it up to the manifold. Some hook it up to the turbo. I personally will be getting a nipple welded onto my charge pipe before the throttle plate. While I'm getting my bov flange welded. I'm doing this because Tial recomends it with thier bov's.
