Bought used MIG welded Comptech header, and have some questions
Hello to all. Well i bought a USED Comptech M.I.G. welded
header for my 1999 Acura Integra gsr. Well after taking it home, I
don't see a spot where the O2 sensor is to be put. I see a ball of
looks like weld, but it's closed. Am I totally out of the water? Do
we still use the O2 sensor with this performance part. Should I
get a hole drilled for the O2 sensor to be put in? Please I need
answers ASAP. I appreciate any help that you can give me.

yes 02 is required, otherwise you will have CEL codes coming, and gas mileage/performance problems, just take it to shop and have them make another bung for the 02 or fix the old one....
it might be unecessary if you are running closed loop Mugen/Skunk2 program....

Can i take it too like Monroe Muffler or a shop like that, to have them make a new bung for the header?? Do you know about how much that costs????
You should have an O2 bung already on the header...it should be located in the collector, just before where the cat connects. If it doesn't have an O2 bung you got screwed...

Is it possible the guy you bought it from converted to OBD1 which only requires an O2 sensor after the cat and welded up the hole???

You have a 1999 GSR???
If you do, you DO NOT NEED an O2 bung on your header. On the 94-99 models, the O2 sensor(s) are in the cat. The Comptech header will not have an O2 bung AND you do not need to make one. Just bolt it in.
Just in case there is disagreement...I did my Comptech header install myself. The LS/GS/RS headers have O2 bungs but NOT the GSR.

Wow your comptech headers look nice and clean. Mine look crappy, do you know of anyway I can clean them up. The guy I bought mine from said that they are 6months old.. If I could get them similiar to yours it would be great!! Thanks for the help...

Eagle 1 metal cleaner, and some time...they will look great after you do that. And after you install the header wipe it down with alcohol BEFORE you start the can to insure that you don't have fingerprints on the header.

Hey Austin,
Is that metal cleaner going to work if my header is already a funky brown/blue color? Not that I really care what it looks like... hehehe.

Now is there a special place that you purchased the Eagle One Metal cleaner, or did you just get it from like autozone or something??
