question about ls tranny and lsvtec!
hi everyone,
I know I don't have an R but, you guys have better technical knowlege here so I like asking my questions here, I have a 2000 se, If i change the final drive in the tranny, will It work like a vtec tranny. I will be running a lsvtec with a 9500rpm redline! thanks in advance.......

The LS has the same ratios for 1st and 2nd as the GS-R (before final drive), so with a GS-R's 4.40 you would have the exact same gearing as a GS-R in first and second.
The problem is that the '94-01 GS-R and JDM ITR ring gear (final drive) is larger and will not bolt up to the LS tranny unless you change the differential too. The ring gear from a '92-'93 GS-R will work, and has the same 4.40 ratio as the later GS-R and USDM ITR.
Your best bet would be to instal a USDM ITR tranny. That would give you shorter gearing and an LSD for less than what it would cost to buy those parts and put them in your LS tranny.
