LS Cable Transmission in CRX Question.....NEED HELP NOW!!!!
I put an LS motor in a crx and i am trying to put the passenger side axle in but it wont go in all the way.
I found out why. There is a Metal rod inside transmission where you put the axle through. That is what is stopping it from going in i believe. i know all trannys have that.
how do i get this axle to go in all the way!!!!!!!?????
please i need help now

I just did some troubleshooting and found out that when i put the axle into the hub it will not spin. but out of the hub it will. still trying to find out the problem.
anyone?

are you talking about a metal rod right down the center of the hole where the axles go in? can you see daylight on both sides of the rod through the hole? because if that is what you are seeing, then that is just part of the differential in your transmission, and there is nothing wrong. if you had an lsd that rod wouldnt be there. but its not keeping you from installing the axle..
You dont happen to have the abs axles do you?
Sometimes the clip on the axle gets fucked up. Does the hub spin without the axle in it?
Mine was a bitch too with my ls swap but i just had to jam it in there, I guess the driver's side went in fine?

i dont think its the abs axle. yeh the hub spins. but the reason the hub doesnt spin is because the axle isnt all the way into the tranny. if you look from the top of the motor down to the tranny you can see that there is a half inch gap. and that is the reason the hub isnt spinning. because the axle is pressed against the hub so much where it is very tight. that half inch of gap is the reason.

If you didn't, it causes the binding that you are describing.

thats in. it was removed and put back in before all of this

The thing is, is that the axle clips in but its not in all the way. It is a 90 integra axle. we tried a 91 integra axle..same thing happend. these are axles bought at advanced auto parts. would an OEM axle do anything different. the axle just seems like its longer than others

hold the axle up as straight as your can and use a dead blow hammer(preferably brass or copper so you don't damage the end of the axle to much) and wack that hell out of it a few times

That dust cover is susposed to be out if you are using the stock civic hubs with the ls axles. I dont think that would keep it from going into the tranny though.

Its not the dust cover he showed, it was the hub seal.

You have to leave those out like he said ^ Ive done this swap quite a few times and always had to remove it. As far as the axle not going in i cant think of anything else.

that metal rod is part of the differential, thats normal if its not an lsd tranny,as for problems inserting the axle check the splins for borrs on then or make sure it's to an 90 to 93 ls.

i know that rid is part of the differential. i used two different axles, a 90 and a 91 ls integra axle.
It clips in the tranny but there is still a gap.

Pull the c-clip off the end of the axle than slide it in the tranns and see what its hitting.
Are the spiders chewed up in the tranny?
