Help! Axle Stuck in Wavetrac Diff
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get an axle out with a wavetrac diff? Apparently their early lsd's had machining problems causing the clip to fall down in the axle groove and no longer centereed in the side gear of the diff. Their customer service rocks and they said they will replace the diff and even the axle if I damage it removing it but first I need to get this thing out! Thanks for any tips.
The email they sent about that problem suggested rotating the axle and trying again, in hopes that the clip will reposition itself during turning.
I know my buddy had that problem with the OBX diff. He made a metal rod and put it through the other side and mini sledged it out. Killed the axle but never the diff. Might want to try that.

How big is the opening in the Wavetrac?? I haven't seen on in person.
On Odysseys and Pilots that ALWAYS got the axles stuck, we would use one guy with a long pick to move the clip, and another guy to pry it out.
If the cars on a lift, just use a 4 ft pry bar- never failed me

LOL,i just had to destroy a casing last week.I had the same problem,i loosened all the bolts, and 10s for the selector, final drive bolts.Pulled the casing apart then, plasma cut a notch in it and slid it out. Then took the diff apart and air hammered the axle out the other side. Not exactly the best solution, but i was desperate. It was a liberty gear set if it means anything.

Yea i tried prybars,a fat guy and everything. But the clip is really lodge in there.I didnt damage the axle nor the diff, just the casing.Oh yea thanx for info on the defective diff,i thought it was a bad batch of 5.9's,now im gonna send both of them out for repair.Good luck.
Thanks for the idea Kevin! I was able to get out all the bolts and pull apart the trans without taking the axle out (PITA!!) so now I can just send my case, axle, and diff back to wavetrac all together and let them fix it!
I had the same problem with my wavetrac lsd. I purchased it weeks after they cam out with it.
first my halfshaft got stuck so everytime i would drop the tranny I would bring it down with the halfshaft.
Then the axle got stuck on the other side and had to bring it down all together.
Finally I got the slide hammer 1junkycivic said and took of the axle but I still have the halfshaft stuck.
I'm gonna call wavetrac to and see if they can help me. That would be great.
