Default questions about engines + extra horsepower?

Well ive made some upgrades to the interior and exterior of my 00 si, so now I was thinking some engine work but honestly don’t know where to start….

Besides the exhaust and intake---
For better breathing and air intake I was thinking about the skunk 2 intake manifold along with the skunk2 68mm throttle body. This is to let more air flow to the engine but wont I need to increase my fuel for any gains ??? Does a upgraded fuel rail do this??

Also hearing a lot about ignition and spark…so I was thinking about the msd 6a ignition kit . (quicker ETs, easier starting, reduced plug fouling, more power).

Seen cam gears and pulley kits but don’t know exactly what these do other than the difference between Honda factory speakers and JL audio ones…

I have some money saved up and would like to maximize my si ‘s performance but don’t want to buy something only to realize that I have to buy something else and something else later on. Want to spend a couple of hundred but get something that will give me the best overall gains without breaking the bank..

Looking for some personal experience here as well as some fined tuned knowledge.

Any help is appreciated guys….

Thanks a lot………..

Leave your ignition alone, stock Honda ignitions are good for 300 or so HP, so you'd be just wasting money. If you have an audio system a grounding kit will help gas milage and to calm down your electrical system. Start with the usual I/H/E and maybe some cam gears. The gears are pointless unless you get them tuned, so after everything is installed take it somewhere to get everything tuned. Maybe get your ECU chipped and tuned with a wideband.

Look into cams, valves, retainers, springs and gears.

that's what i would do. go with a whole new valvetrain, cams, injectors, and a new flywheel. new stage 1 clutch would do good too.

the intake manifold and throttle body are not bad ideas, but you won't really see big gains from them unless combined with cams, valves, springs, and cam gears. Then get it tuned, and your car will pull a lot harder.

agree! if you change intake and throttle body, you should change cams. if you want to feel the diffrence in cheap way. put in ctr intake, cams, srings retainers, and throttle body. if you got some cash go with skunk 2 valve train, intake, and throttle body.

I've been looking at the Buddy Club packages of late. You can get an all-inclusive package for under $1k.
