Default Car is not accelerating?

ok my car isnt accelerating like it should past 4500 rpms, it really pisses me off. I've already spent 500 bucks on repairs and didnt seem to find the problem. Clogged cat?? Please help me i'm trying to sell this thing! my car is shooting 200 psi on all cylinders.

Sounds like a clogged cat, I could be wrong though.

Tell us what you have done already. How does it run before 4500 rpms? All you have to do to see if it is your cat is to drop your exhaust from the cat back and go for a spin. Don't go far or the Law might get ya. If it pulls hard to redline then you know your problem, if not, then hook that cat and exhaust back up and do some more searching. Does the cat rattle at all? Sometimes thats an indication that the ceramic has broken or dislodged inside, blocking exhaust flow.

After checking the cat, I would look at your all the plug wire connections. Maybe pull the plugs and look at their condition. There are just so many possibilities. It could be that you jumped time, so check and see if your crank and cam gears line up properly. Could be an ignition problem, coil, ignitor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and ignition timing itself. Could be a clogged fuel filter. Could be a bad O2 sensor. Good luck narrowing it down.

Tell us what you have done so far! Check the fuel filter, normaly you only notice those at a highner RPM, and also your catalytic converter.

wow thanks guys for all the replies. actually my cat DOES rattle, its either that or my o2 sensor wire rattling against it. i just replactd the rotor cuz i figured that MIGHT be the problem but i guess not!

well it really just seems like VTEC isnt kicking it at all. it makes an INCREDIBLY LOUD noise at a little above 4k and at 6k it screams like its gonna die. pretty intimidated to take it up so high

where would i beable to find a new cat for cheap???

i dont think its the cat

my cat was rattling and it was just the bottom heatshield ratlling. Alot of time its gets loose and you just need to tack it back, or a rock gets stuck in it and it rattles around.

well considering that i could barely pass smog 2 years ago,.. it MIGHT be the cat if it really just decreases performance that much.

Check your speed sensor, o2 sensor and your cat.
