Default turbo prelude ecu question

Hey I'm putting a turbo on my 2000 prelude and I need to get an obdI ecu. I was going to buy a chipped p28, but then someone said something about converting the p28 to a p72 because a p28 will not work correctly because of some extra part in the intake manifold....can anyone help me with this?

what? If you get the p28 - just get a hondata system. You can't just get a p28 system and expect it to run well. Get a usdm p28 ecu and a s300 system. it'll all be worth it seriously.

I think you have to get the usdm ecu because i don't think that the jdm version will work with hondata- but then again, I'm not sure at all.

hmm... p28 you're not going to have your secondary butterflies... a p72 would be good for you just get it chipped and tuned for your car... you will also need a conversion harness going from OBDII to OBDI someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm running a p28 chipped with uberdata and it's fine. But yah, you'll have to do something about your secondaries. I just opened up my IM, took out that middle plate and unscrewed the 4 butterfly doors and reinstalled. Good to go.

The first question that you need to ask yourself is...what kind of power you want to make and how much money you want to spend? Jumping right into a obdI setup may be a little rash for your power goals.
