Not enough power. Hook your head unit up to the battery directly.

Need more info, make/model of Alpine HU any amps and subs/ speakers, is the Alpine HUs internal amp running any speakers, or are you using an amp for them, or do you just have an amp for the subs, also when you say the Alpine "shuts off" do you mean, [and it sounds like it] it turns right off, [no power] and you loose all the presets and clock resets, the disk pops out when the power comes back on" also need to know how the HU is wired, powers and ground? 94

the HU is wired to the power from the car and the amp is for the subs.. the amp is wired directly to the battery and its just the HU that shuts off because its too loud.. all the other like the clock is still set

May be an overheating problem too, but from my experience I'd say the HU is underpowered.

Im willing to bet its your ground. Reground if that doesnt work run your accy turn on (red wire) and constant 12V (yellow) to the ignition harness under the dash and connect them to there.

my alpine did that alot till I ran the 12v straight to the battery bc it wasn't getting enough power and it also tells u in the alpine manual to run it straight to the battery try that and see if it works

Yeah I always run them to the ignition harness the power there is good enough. Its a lot easier than going through the fire wall and one less wire to hide in your engine comparment

[or ground point] as close to the HU as you can, [you can use the HUs back support bracket/strap mounting bolt to mount the ground to the HUs chassis. 94

just use a fuse and tap on some 10gauge wire to the 12v line you have ran itno the car for the amp. one less wire in engin bay...be sure to use solder and fuse this will solve the problem
