Default thermostat ground

are you supposed to have two grounds on your thermostat?? my brother and i were doing the sohc zc swap, and i wasn't there the whole time, but it wasn't running right and i checked it out, and sure enough, no groung wire on the thermostat. im thinking this could solve a lot of my problems. and i did search for grounds and engine grounds but nothing came up. you'd think that it would, but i didn't use the advanced search. also, where are the other grounds?? i know about the valve cover ground, but remind where the others are. thanks in advance fellas

Yes there should be a few wires grounded at the thermostat housing. They are all connected together and ground at a single point. They should be easy to locate since they all come out of the engine harness where the t-stat housing is. If that ground is loose or missing, the car will run funny as hell. Other grounds are the valve cover one like u stated and one from the tranny to frame.

Yep. If they arent bolted to the t stat housing, they are probably dangling around near by.

hey, i looked around in there with a flashlight, i have no dangling wires. you sure its like that on an hf wiring harness?? and if not, should i run the grounds to the same place the battery is grounded?? and it shouldn't matter which bolts on the housing i run the grounds from, should it?? thanks

yeah, i know where the thermostat is, and after moving some wires around, i did notice that there was one ground coming from the wiring harness attatched to the top. so i ran another ground and ran it to a bolt just in front of the battery, but it didn't make a difference, i still throw a code one, and i know the o2 sensor is good. should i have ran the other ground straight to the negative batt. terminal??man, if i can get this damn code 1 to go away, this motor will be running great, after a month of messin with it. sometimes i just wanna give up, ya know? but its like a black hole, it justs keeps sucking me back in, along with anything in my wallet.
