Default 86 Civic Hatchback Si?

Thinking about looking at one. Is there anything I should know about it like any problems with this gen. What should I look for when looking at it? I am planning on using it as a daily driver and just modding the suspension. The car has 160k miles. Hes asking $950. Is this a good deal? Also, are there a lot of aftermarket parts available for it?

It's a good deal ONLY if that car is in tip-top condition.

check under the car for rust (specifically where the panhard bar mounts to the body).

Aside from that just check for the normal stuff when buying a used car. Knocks, taps, clunks, etc.

If it's realatively rust free $950 is a decent price.

There are plenty of aftermarket parts, you just need to know where to look.

enjoy,

Jacques

3g Civics have torsion bars in the front . And no parts from 4g Civic / 2g CRX will intermix with it.

For a daily driver I would highly recommend getting it for 950. And yes look for rust. The car is damn near 20 years old .

for more info on 3g Civics check out http://www.redpepperracing.com

Are there any rear brake setups I can use from another Honda and put it in?

Yes sir. 86-89 Integra rear disc will work.

The 86-89 are pretty much the same suspension/engine wise. except in 88-89 the integra motor requires some wiring changes (quite a bit) to fit in the 3g Civic.
