Hi-flow oil pump effect vtec?
I know that the vtec silonoid is activated with the oil presure, i beleive. however i was thinking about buying an aftermarket hi-flow oil pump from KMS (honda-performance.com) and was wondering if that would effect when the vtec kicks in, some quick answers would be nice, and i am searching right now on this. thanks.
i believe vtec kicks in at a certain oil pressure- if a high flow oil pump would increase oil pressure at a lower rpm then i would *assume* vtec would kickin at a lower rpm.
Of course you would prolly still need an rpm-activated switch to cause it to crossover at a lower rpm but perhaps with a hiflow oil pump it wouldnt be as bad for the engine as it is without (yes i know lowering the crossover is bad w/o highflo)
this is all speculation on my part tho

Right.. thats kinda what i was thinking.. anyone else..? anyone actualy put in a hiflow oil pump with vtec...? does it effect when the vtec kicks in? thank you again.
vtec kicks in off of oil pressure + the ecu tells it when it reaches a certain rpm(i believe 5500) to change over to vtec...
so id imagine if you did it and didnt throw a cel, youre straight...
youd be better off with a VAFC...
