where/ what is my throttle plate? (notchy gas pedal)

Default where/ what is my throttle plate? (notchy gas pedal)

hey guys i have a very notchy gas pedal its hurting my gas mileage etc.. i was told to clean the plate, with some cleaner and a wire brush etc... what exactly is the piece i am supposed to take off and clean?

does anyone have a picture

Take off your air intake. You should see the throttle plate on the inside of the throttle body.

Another reason for a sticky throttle could be that your stopper isn't adjusted correctly. Basically how it works is the throttle plate snaps shut against the stopper. There should be an adjustment nut below the throttle plate. HTH.

can you please explain "notchy" a little better?

things to inspect: throttle cable and where its attatched to your pedal, and the throttlebody rotor. if there is enough gunk inside the throttlebody to make your butterfly stick, something is VERY wrong.

Nylon bristle brush..don't use a wire brush...



Open the throttle wide open and clean not only the bore but also the
plate or "butterfly" itself, Especially around the edges..
..
