wiper problem
ok so. there are 3 levels on the wiper. one that moves every 5-10 sec one that moves slow, medium. and fast. the first setting doesnt want to work. when i try to clean my windows by usin the water sqwirters the wipers are suppose to move but they dont. i dont know if its a burnt fuse or something. can you guys help me out?
Does the intermittant wipers work after a spell?
With mine, the spray function worked, but the Intermittant function wouldn't start unless I waited several minutes, or started futzing with the switch.
My '97 required replacing the wiper switch (on the steering colume).
My undestanding of the problem involves the "Monkey Snot" Honda uses as a lubricant when they assemble their switches. When this stuff gets old, it hardens; causing the switch contacts to loose contact until it either softens or you find a "good spot" in the switch.
Without knowing what year and model you've got, I can not go furthur

i got a 96 honda accord. like the first setting .doesnt work even if i spray my windshield. cuz when u spray the windshield its suppose to whip the windshield even if the wiper is on or not.
It's either the wiper switch itself, or the intermittant wiper relay. I don't believe it to be the wiper motor since the standard speeds and park functions work properly. At this point I'm leaning towards the switch.

I haven't forgotten you.
I've been asking around if there's any way to test the intermittant wiper relay without replacing it. So far, no response.
I'd rather give you a difinitive answer rather than suggest throwing parts at the problem.
Perhaps deserthonda, or someone else will chime in b4 I can scare up a suggestion.
I wouldn't suggest trying to disassemble and clean the switch, since there are several contact shoe / spring assemblies which tend to part company when you pull these apart.

like P_Adams says it could be more than 1 thing ,,on top of the relay and switch it could also be a bad integrated control unit ,,but let's chk the easy and cheapest things first ,, we are going to test the intermittent wiper relay ..it is located below the underhood fuse box.........it has 4 wires going to it...,, you need to have a test lite or a volt/ohm meter to do the test,,,,,,,,,,,,
you should have power with key on at wire green/black ,,, put the switch in intermitt and u should get power at white wire .......the power to white wire comes from the switch so if u got power switch is doing its job .. if no power could be a bad switch..........if u get power on both of those wires then we will chk for ground at green/red wire,,,,,... chk those and post results ..do the tests 2 times and compare results just to make sure u got it right ,,
