burning a quart of oil a day?
i have a 89 crx dx with stock motor (d15b2). it needed a new head when i bought it, so i came across a used head and installed it along with new head gasket, water pump, timing belt, crankshaft seal, valve cover gasket kit, new oil and coolant. i've got it running and ive kept a real good eye on my oil level. which seems to go down everyday. I drive about 80 miles a day, and i can literally put a quart of oil in daily to keep it up to the max level. What could be the problem?
does it puff smoke? or does it just leak?? leaving a puddle?
check your oil pan bolts/ gasket.
compressioin test
that should give you some idea or narrow it down at least
also valve seals

no way valve seals will cause u to lose a quart a day... that is a substantial amount of oil...if it is leaking, trace where the leak is coming from and fix it...and if it smoking, it will be bluish smoke..that is caused by ur rings going bad and it will need to be rebuilt

Um yes it could...and yes that is alot of oil....he said he bought the head used...what if the moron broke the timing belt and kissed the valves and bent them...since this guys puts it on and wears down the seals .....therefore leaking oil ino all four cylinders......80 miles a day...its possible......By the way stranger things have happened

it COULD happen...but its so unlikely that i laughed when i read it
were gonna need more input from the owner to correctly answer this question

What was wrong with the old head? Was the engine overheated?

the old head had a broken camshaft. it broke off at the cam gear, with a small piece of shaft still attached to the gear. some people that knew the guy tell me that the car was smokin before he snapped the cam.
