just adjusted my valves!
my poor back is soooo sore!
i adjusted the valves on my 2001 r with 16k miles. it took me 5hrs from when i first popped open the hood to the requisite drive around the block; i also took 2 x 1/2hr lunch breaks. i managed to pop off the valve cover without tearing any of the seals, however, i replaced the 8 little rubber washers just to be safe. of the 16 valves: 2 required no adjustment, 2 were 0.001 tight, and the rest were 0.001 loose. basically my valves were within specs, but it was an enjoyable day tinkering with the car. my only casualty was the bolt for the ground wire; i have no idea where it went, but i'm temporarily using the bolt from the ?power steering? off the back right edge of the valve cover. i imagine the hose bracket isn't necessary so it will probably be dumped to save the 2 grams.
one question: where should hondabong (oops!) be put on the valve cover gasket? i could see where the factory put hbond around the cam humps. i wasn't sure so i put a bead all the way around the valve cover. i have a 2hr drive tonight so i'll check for leakage when i arrive.
sorry, no pictures this time; there is too much oil everywhere so i didn't touch the camera. pollo diablo and i will do his car in the next week or so and i'll take lots of pictures then.

The Helms manual has the Hondabond in just those areas that had them when you removed you original gasket. I didn't have any when I last removed the valvecover, so I have a little bit of oil leaking from some selected areas of the valve cover...not a lot of leakage though.

Hondabond...also does good at molding together Radiator hose spout going from the radiator top to the over flow tank. I broke that spout off my gf nissan Altima and had to get her back on the road...i lined it up...honda- bonded it and zip tided it from the metal clamp to around the radiator cap.
What a rig job, but its lasting for now and not spewing or over heating.
TJ- who better order that radiator soon. Sux you cant just buy the top...those plastic spouts always break off, especially when trying to take the hose off thats always been on there for yrs and pretty much welds itself to the plastic with is already dried out....SNAP!

missing bolt did not fall into the head/block, it would have caused some problems by now.
i just drove 2hrs with a bit of vtec and there is no leakage. hopefully i can get the valve cover off now that i've essentially glued all the way around.
