detonation or valve knock?
94 accord EX f22b1 sohc vtec 2.2
aem cam gear adjusted to -3 degrees
experiencing knockin noise an 1/8th throttle when engine is at operating temps.
put 89 and 93 octane and still knocked so i don't think its detonating. should i reset the cam back to 0 degrees? someone let me know because i don't
thanks
-does anyone know or is this forum just about specs?

Same deal with mine, still ticks with 93. I even checked my timing (within limits), did a valve adjustment myself, still did it, took it to the edaler for a valve adjustment (incaseI didnt do it right) still ticked.....etc.....maybe pull the head and clean any deposits that might be pre igniting the AF mix?
A tech told me it was just characteristic of the 2.2 F series engine. As far as I know, its just the valve train ticking a bit, but these engines still last forever despite it. Now, I have an LX, but I think this is true for ex's also

it could very well be the engine timing...i experienced this on my b18c build, the cam timing was off and i had a pinging problem that was bad....i thought it was the compression but even after running 110 octane it still would do it. i looked into and noticed valve timing to be off, after i corrected this it ran fine with no pinging or detonation...
if not it could be excessive carbon build up, i have this problem and it makes a ticking metallic noise on hot days...you could always try seafoam to see if that cures it, or take the camsprocket back a degree or so...
