does ITR need 100k miles warranty
AAA is offering me bumber to bumber warranty for my ITR up to 100k miles for around 1400, which is around 30 bucks a month. My car already has 22k miles on it, and I'm wondering if the car really needs the warranty..how often does it break apart? that you think will be covered? I use the car for daily driving, and redlining it almost everyday. what do you guys think? a must? or no?
Change the oil frequently and all other fluids regularly. I doubt you would ever need that "warranty". Check into the deductibles and what is covered/not covered. Seems kinda expensive to me.
I got it, I am at 47000 and just got my VteC solenoid replaced as well as the tailligth for condensation, you never know it may save the hassle of having to fork out the cash later. Anything can happen...
i got it, but then again i already have 53k on my 2000 R, i just felt better knwoing that my car is covered if somehting goes wrong, havent had to use it yet though
Offical Acura Warrenty sucks *****. I had it on my GSR and everytime I wanted to get something warrentied, I had to a) Wait 3 weeks for them to get the ok from the warrenty people b) pay for it out of pocket and have the warrenty people pay me back (if it was a warrenty fix, if not under warrenty i was screwed).
And Acura just uses one of the pos warrenty companies and puts there name on it.

I don't think Honda cars need extended warranty. Most of the things that break after the warranty period are usually the wear items or user error that you have to pay for anyway. Anything malfunctioned from the factory should have shown up before the new car warranty lapse (like synchros.)
And if you plan to modify your car, don't get extended warranty.

I have never heard of paying out-of-pocket and then getting reimbursed with an official factory warranty.
Yep, bought it from Acura and had the office honda warrenty service papers. I don't know if they use another company or not, but once i was over 40,000 miles, it was not like doing regular warrenty work. I could not just take it in and have them replace it, I had to wait for them to get the ok to replace it. This happend on my GSR for the rear latch. The latch mechanisim kept braking and I had it replaced twice before i was over 40k miles with out any problems. Went out again at like 48k and took it in and they said they had to contact the warrenty department to see if it was covered or not. Total BS.
I've had around $600 in warranty work so far mainly from stupid things. Been a hassle trying to get it fixed but nice not having to pay for anything.
Besides at 99,999 miles I'm just going to max out 4th and drop the car into second gear then clear the ecu. New engine for me.

What does a warrenty like that cover?
Old/slipping clutch?
Rusted through exhaust?
Tires??
A cracked headlight because of a rock or something..?
Does it cover wear and tear? Just curious.

i had a 90' teg rs, nothing wrong happened till 140,000 miles (A/C)
and my 95' civic ex coupe (beater), is still running strong @ 116,000 miles (only 1 major tune up)
the itr is covered from acura till 62,000, good enough for me

my 98R with 73K miles will very likely see 100K miles (and many more beyond that) and still be stock. no mods on it yet - even the clear corners were removed because I didn't like the way they look. I've had no time (or need) for mods. been too busy driving the car.
I got the factory warranty extended to 100K as I plan to keep the car for a while. so far it has been used to replace the VTEC solenoid and something in the clutch. the warranty covers all the same stuff that would be covered for the first 48K miles. it wasn't that much - $1100 with no deductible or something like that. call around for pricing. the dealers all have different pricing for the exact same coverage. if it is the factory warranty, it doesn't matter where you get it as it is covered by all the dealers.
if you
- plan to keep the car for a long time and
- have no intention of modifying it and
- don't mind the dealer working on your car
then get it for the piece of mind, otherwise save your money.
I sold my Integra LS at 60K miles and I never ever had to use the warranty.
