crx smoking from too much oil in it?
is it possible for an engine to puff oil due to having too much oil in it....i had been puffing smoke alot lately and have just noticed that i added a good liter over the fill line when changing the oil. .....so the dipstick reads that it's full plus a half....
i think that you are right. if u add to much oil it will smoke. wait for someone else to respond but i think i'm right.
it will smoke if you have too much oil, not too much but it will . it will also smoke if you have a blown headgasket...
theres many things it could be, like maachan said check the colot and get back to us

yeah i have to agree, unless u over fill it by at least quart it should not smoke, This is coming from someone thats done many a oil change on my own, cutomer and friends cars, and u would be surprised how many people over fill the ****. Think the most i ever saw was on a old hooptie oldsmobile when the oil was like 3 inches past the full mark. Anyway stranger things have happened on honda's, could possibly be pulling back through the PCV system. So just drain out the extra and see if u still smoke. Very simple fix. Oh and "Suck My DX" great avatar man, adult swim rocks and carl from aqua teen is the best character on the show. Frylock runs a close 2nd
i still dont understand how u guys end up adding too much oil...b16 holds 4.2 quarts..so put in 4 quarts and keep adding till it meets the correct level...how can u add a whole extra quart of oil and not realize it?
I've been wondering if it is generally normal for a bit of blueish smoke to come out at or near the top of RPMs full throttle before shifting gears. I've seen it on other cars and after a fast n furious drive to my friend's house the guy driving behind me and his passenger said there was blue smoke coming out of my exhaust. It probably happened as I was topping 1st and gently caressed the fuel cutoff because this guy was 1 inch behind me

When your rings are startin to go, it is easier to burn oil too yes?

well at this point ur wear is very minimal so it is only burning oil at high rpms...after a while the condition of the rings will get worse and it will not properly seal...this causes oil from the crankcase to get into the combustion chamber and burn...also when ur rings start to go bad u lose compression ...there is no quick fix for this other than maybe using a heavier weight oil...but that will not last very long at all..the bottom end needs to be rebuilt and the cylinder walls need to be honed...well they dont NEED to be honed but i highly recommend that u do...or else there is a possibility that the new rings will not sit correctly when broken in and ull end up having to do it again...might as well do it right the first time
