I did that last time, but it was a bitch. It kept getting bubbles at the base of the spout and making the fluid back up, spilling it all over the top of the vent. I had to use a long wire to poke the bubbles out to keep filling.

Once the fluid starts coming out you are alset. Or as long as you put your index finger in there and you can reach the fluid you are fine also. By the way I replaced my fluid with synthetic 13months ago and ever since then during the winter no more hars shifting when cold. Always smoooth
I spilled a whole lot because we didnt have the right tool to put the fluid in so my we used a grease gun that we cleaned off. But that **** was leaking like a **** so i went thru 7 qts. Im sure you should be ok with 5 to 6qts. Its some what tough putting fluid in there thought.
"if you use the Pennzoil syncromesh its easy to fill it because of how the tip is. just stick it in and squeeze"
Yeah you need like a little tip that will allow you to do that^^^^

i thought it topped out at a little under 3.
well, wahtever the case is, leave the fill bolt open and when u see fluid come out of there, it's full.

to fill it i recommend taking a clear bendable hose and putting one end in the fill hole and the other up through to the top of the engine bay. rig a funnel to that hose and lift the funnel as high as possible. pour away and let gravity push the fluid down in. when you look at the ground and see fluid, stop pouring.

This is the easiest way, IMO, and is the way I do mine now. Only problem is the VSS may be hard to pop out sometimes.
