"Rattle-rattle, clunk, squeak, buzz!"
I have 41,000 miles on my 2000 GS-R, and it is starting to sound like crap. It seems like in the last 5,000 miles, the rattles and buzzes are getting really annoying. It's not a huge deal, but when I purchase a Honda, I expect the quality associated with Honda, especially products made in Japan like the Integra. Do you experience these rattles, or did I get a bad egg? I'm just venting, cause I'm a bit disappointed in my car's overall build quality right now.
I love driving my car, and I expect the powertrain will last forever, but it really is hard to explain $23,000 of car when I'm hearing these rattles in less than 2 years.

Well if you bought from a dealership, I'd just have them look over the car and see if they could do anything about the rattles. By the way where are thew rattles coming from? If it's from the engine, yeah be concern, but if it's from the interior, find the rattle and make it stop, that's what I always do on rattleing cars. I just got a GSR 01 , so of course not, I don't have any rattles, but in the winter when I just start my car in like 5 degree weather I expect some, but in conclusion I wouldn't be concerned.
Man after you start modding your car it sounds even worse. My ITR swaybar squeaks, and my suspension makes alot more noise than the stock one ever did. But its all worth it to me. Just turn the radio up real loud or get a loud exhaust
Do you have stiffer suspension? The GS-R already has fairly stiff suspension so what do you expect from a sports car. I mean, a stiff ride will make things rattle. If you get a subwoofer, it makes the plastic in the back rattle. Just deal with it. There's nothing wrong with your brand new car dude.
If you are hearing internal noises, like plastic panels rattling... it might not hurt to go in with a phillips head screwdriver and "tight check" all your screws. Anything beyond that I cannot help with. 41k on a 2000 is average (20,000k /year). I'm sure you could take it to the dealer as suggested before but they just might tell you its normal.
yeah go get a screwdriver because my side panel vibrates but i just tighten the screw and its fine, the thing is integra's are somewhat flimsy try taking apart your interior its easy especially the floor panel but a accord that car has about 40 screws for part of the interior, the rsx is suppose to take care of that, thats why i'm picking it for my next car
ChaseIntegra, I don't appreciate your condescending tone or hammer. That's really unnecessary.
No mods. No subwoofer. Yes, its suspension is relatively stiff, but that's no excuse in my book. All of the noises are interior rattles, which I understand aren't a problem, but they ARE annoying. And I did not expect them with a $23K Acura product.
My point is, I SHOULDN'T HAVE to deal with it.

you would hate my 95.. it has a bunch of suspension and motor mods and its 6 years older than your car.. i hate driving it w/o the stereo on.. i get rattles from the trunk, sunroof, and the interior dash piece when its cold outside, the stiffer suspension and subs dont help either... then there is a rattle in my exhaust system.. i just turn up the radio.. but yeah its normal
hey dude,
my ride is a 99 and with 45k on it, i read you live in OH and that tells me that you're having a nice chilly winter. my ride runs smooth as silk in the summer but in the winter a get some annoying rattling, squeaking noises..........
oh yeah and this happen to me before and after a few mods..........

Well, from the sounds of it, the Integra has rattle issues. *sigh* Just wanted to ask if others were experiencing the same thing...
Oh well, I guess I turn the radio up and ignore it... Maybe I'll check a few trim screws and see if something's loose...
As I said before, I love driving my baby, but I hate to hear it rattle like that! Oh well, maybe this will give me an excuse to modify stuff, so when people ask why it's so noisy, I can tell 'em its becuase of my ultra-stiff suspension!

about your rattles, i tripped about it at first too, dont sweat it, its normal on tegs
Im guessing its a three door hatch back. The hatch is probably making the sqeeking noise, so open the hatch and turn the rubber stoppers out so your hatch makes a better seal. Also check your spare tire well, your jack and lug wrench might have come loose. I just installed a skunk2 rear strut bar on my 94 integra with eibach springs and tokiko shocks and all my squeaks and most rattles went away. Still waiting on my sway bar, that should help some also.
I think all integras rattle alot. The more you mod your car the more things are going to get loose. You know they are not made for luxury. They are sports cars thats why we have them right? Rattle here and there can be ignored. Just go over your screws and tighten them up.
I'm sorry, but I had to chime in on this one. Not to be a *****, but by no means has an Integra (GS-R even) been considered a luxury car. Your expectations are pretty high for $24,000, especially in this day and age.
If this is your first brand new car, allenp, I know just how you feel. Trust me, everyone here does. You'll freak at the very first encounter of every new squeek, rattle, and pop.
Your sunroof (if you have one) WILL begin to rattle. Your hatch WILL start to rattle. But after awhile, you'll get used to it and won't give a ****. Trust me, you'll get over it.
Have you had your first door-ding yet??

I have a 98 and i dont really have many rattles, im **** about my car though, if it rattles, i fix it. however, my intercooler piping rattles and drives my nuts, its embarrassing to me, gonna fix it after i get back from spring break, I believe, the nicer you drive your car, the less it wears, obviously this goes for the rattles, my buddy has a 2001 ls, his shity rattles twice as bad as mine, he hits every damn bump, i avoid everything possible.
