Window off track
Anyone else had a problem with their ******* window kicking off track all the time, the ******* sealing on each side keeps knocking the window off track and I'm about to bust my ******* windshield, little things like this aggrivate the **** out of me. The sealers the go all the way down the door frame that glide the window up and down is what the window keeps popping itself out of and sliding on the metal rails and ****, I can't deal with it anymore. Anyone else have this problem & fix it themselves? I thought by loosening up the rail seal on the right I fixed it, apparently not.
it pisses me off too. heres a few tips:
1. wd-40 the **** out of the tracks
2. dont shut door when the window is down
it happend to me 5 times, then i tried these things, and it seems to work

It is a very common problem with 96-00. I had to fix mine once in the winter time. Search for "window" under the archived content in this forum and it gave 251 results, here is a few that I found quick but there are plenty other threads as well.

Yes the window going off track is a very common problem with 96-00 civics..Almost everyone i know with this body style has had the same problem..My passenger window also takes about 5mins to roll up and its a pain in the ***...To fix mine i had to go get a new window regulator from honda ($40) and its never happened since.

This happends to my 99 civic si all the time when i close the door and the window is down. you have to be really gentle with doing that or it will drop right off of the track. the answer has been told, it's the regulator, and you can get it from honda. In my case, i just put it back on track and tightened the **** out of the screws and i'm very careful when closing the door, and NEVER close it with the window down.
mine used to go off the track, but what you do is check the track near the speaker to see if the rubber lining is pinching into the metal.. thats what makes it skip off.
atleast thats how it was in my case, ever since i havent had a problem and dont have to worry bout it happening again.
if your window is slow, i would suggest replacing the regulator.

Oh my was that a fun time. No one has this on their EG? I'll just search</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm sure that was fun, like I said mine happened when I went through mcdonald's drive-thru for lunch and it was cold as f*** outside and I was able to pull it in the bay after work and fix it. It was still cold in there though with no heat but it was better than doing it outside. Also I just took the one bolt out behind the speaker and slid the track back on the glass and pulled it on there as tight as I could and put the bolt back in. Knock on wood because it hasn't been off since. Also I have problems with my passenger side window rolling up slow and it's always done that since I've owned it but never got off track.

Yes this is a very common problem for 96-00 civics. I had the same problem, it kept sliding off its track and then it struggles to go up and it pops off track. The first, best, and cheapest method to fix this problem is:
1. Buy some "silicone spray" (WD-40 WON'T WORK AT ALL) and spray it on both sides of the tracks. This should fix many of the window problems.
If that doesn't work, you probably have a more serious problem. You'll have to replace either the regulator or motor. I thought I needed a new regulator and motor for my problem but I didn't. Those can cost quite a bit, that's why I suggest using the silicone spray first because its cheap and VERY effective.
This issue has been covered many times also. Search.

mine was like this too. it was hard to roll up, would pop out of the track, and when i did manage to get it up (lol), there was always a gap. Well I bought the car used like that, i tried adjusting all of the points by following the helms manual and none of it seemed to work. Finally i managed to get a free manual window regulator, and replaced it. I comapred it side by side w/ the old one and the old one was completely bent to **** (i think from a prior theft attempt in which the window was flexed back).
replace the regulator.
replace the regulator.
replacing the rubber track will help too.
