OBD-I converted CRX, solid CEL problem..
Here's the deal, a customer of mine recently converted his '88 CRX to an OBD-I system by way of the JDMshit.com conversion harness. He's using a socketed OBD-I PR4 in the car, but no matter what I do to the rom, the car keeps kicking back a solid CEL on turn-key. I tried another ECU and another AT29c altogether to rule out ECU issues, no dice. Mind you this is a D16Y7 in the car (if that matters at all). Has anybody had other issues with these harnesses or a similar setup? Any help would be apprieciated.. thanks
EDIT: Just realized that a stock OBD-I ECU doesn't set of the insta-CEL, even more interesting..

pull the code. the cell just means your throwing a code, you have to check it by jumping the service connectors and getting the count of long blings and short blinks. example. a code 21 would be 2 long blinks followed by 1 short blink.
after you get the codes come back and post them, or do a search for ecu codes on ht then you will know what is going on

In order for the CEL to blink you have to use a paperclip or some type of metal wire and jumper a connector. You need to take the glove box off and dig through the harness. It is a 2 wire connector(green/white and brown). After you put the paperclip, it will start throwing you a code. My guess is its going to be code 1. I dont know if he put a 4 wire oxygen sensor and connected the wires correctly. Let us know what the code is.
JDM **** harnesses have a "Service wire" in them. You simply connect this wire to a switch, opposite side of the switch going to ground.
With the ignition in the off position, flip the switch on. Turn the key to the On position, see code. Fix code.
If you're actually getting a solid LED with the Service Check wire properly connected, then try another ECU. If the other ECU does the same thing, it's your wiring. If it does not, it's your ECU.
Best Advice i can give ya.
