Default burning oil

well my car has been burning oil and blowing out lots of smoke when step on the throttle hard and i was wondering what would be wrong. any help would be wonderful and does decrease hp on my car. thanks.

could be a lot of things...do a compression test first...if bad then its the rings or headgasket...i fyou have good compression then its most likely your valve stems...I have also seen the valve cover leak into sparkplug hole and the oil leaking down into cylinders.....but all answeres can be solved with a compression test
