Catalytic Converter Change.....
Hey guys,
I have a 1994 Honda Civic LX and my old catalytic converter is just breaking down. The heat shield fell off of the bottom part of the catalytic converter and now the top heatshield is just rattling its butt off when i drive.
Should i pay an auto mechanic/technician to remove the old one and install the new? Or is it a job I can do on my own in a drive way or garage? I will be doing this with jacks or so. What do you guys think? This'll be the first time i will install a catalytic converter.
Thanks,
SojournMystical

it's not hard to change, but you'll need something to remove the o2 sensor. a decent set of wrenches and sockets and a hammer. and some wd40 or something else to help get those rusted as bolts loose.
it's not difficult, you could probably get it done in an hour. if you can find a place cheap enough, I would pay someone to do it as it can be a pain in the ***.

I would do it myself. A mechanic will probably charge a good amount of money to do it and it's rather easy to do.
You will need to spray the rusty bolts with either wd-40 or equivalent in advance.
You should get new gaskets from honda whenever you replace the cat.
*edit: gftgrill beat me to it but it's the same suggestion.
