Default Bypass valves

I have just recently heard that having a bypass valve is very important if you have a Cold Air Intake. Reason being is when it rains alot.. I have never heard of this thing until just recently, i have had my intake for sometime now (mabey a few months) and i live in Texas which it doesnt rain much here but it can, so should i be concerned into getting one? or can i wait or whats the deal.. I dont want my engine getting f'd up b.c i wanted to drive and it all of a sudden started to rain.. know what i mean?

any input is apprciated
