Hi, I removed the center console but don't know where I can adjust the cable to make it tighter. My hand brake can pull all the way up to 45 degrees to a complete stop. That's way too high. Is there a way?

Yes...there is a small 10mm nut that is connected to a spring... You can't miss it once you take the armrest out.

How do you know you have adjusted it too tight and the brake pads have started touching the rotor?

The shop manual says: 6 - 10 "clicks".
So, just adjust it to 6 clicks......

Sometimes it's necessary to "reset" the self-adjusting mechanism. You do that by loosen the nut all the way and press the brakepedal several times. And then retighten the cable again to 6 - 10 "clicks".

 

thanks, I guess 6 clicks mean: after hearing 6 clicks, you can't pull it anymore.

 

Well, to be more accurate: after 6 clicks you should be pulling the handle with 200 N of force without going to the next 'click'.....
