Engine Sounding Like A Diesel When Accelerating
This is the issue. I started to notice it about 4 days ago and I don't know what is causing it. My engine is sounding like it's a diesel when I accelerate.
I did an oil flush and change last night, but that didn't help it (it may have made it a bit worse actually). I also added some Lucas Oil Stabilizer (about 1/4 of a 1L bottle) but that hasn't seemed to help. If I accelerate very slowly, the sound doesn't occur, but other than that it does. I'm afraid of what this could be... any thoughts? Thanks.

Hole in your exhaust manifold or exhaust piping?

I'm not really sure what that would feel like. I'm assuming it would feel less powerful and acceleration would be slower. If this is so, then no. The car still feels like it's running the same, but now it has this noise.
Timing is definitely a possibility. I am in need of a belt change. I am at 144,000kms and it hasn't been changed yet. How exactly do I check if the timing is on or off?

check all of your spark plug wires on the plugs and the distributer, make sure they are all making good contact, i know it sounds easy but sometimes thats what it is. Ive had one come off before and it sounded just like that. best of luck
Checked all the caps on the spark plugs and distributer, all is good there. I've noticed that after about 10 minutes of driving, the sound gets quieter, but can still be heard lightly...
