i hope u flush ur engine after every oil change. when i bought my civic, i flushed out the oil and it looked like some dark liquid chocolate it was so bad. that can normally fix that annoying light problem.

Umm.. you do FLUSH your engine out every oil change right. if you cleaned your pickup tube out then it shouldnt come on. UNLESS you have gunk in the motor still which is going to clog it right back up.

What exactly do you mean by this? "Flushing" then engine is not part of the procedure for a standard oil change.

to make sure my baby is running clean, i pickup "GUNK MOTOR FLUSH". its about $2 at your local auto parts store, now i only use this stuff about once every 2 years. before you change your oil you poor this in the crankcase and let idle for about 15 min, then run 1 quart of clean oil right throught the car, then finsh the oil change.

Flushing the engine with an oil change?

Unless you've got **** in your engine or some serious carbon buildup it should all come out with the old oil.

if there is no major problem with your engine, there should be no gunk from used engine oil. flash can only be done one in a while, and i think it is a bad idea for honda engine since it is a tight clearance engine. unless you prime for oil pressure every time after u do a engine flash and before start the engine up, or else you are risking to have less to no oil pressure in the first couple minute of engine running.

back to OP, i dont think the oil pick up screen can be clogged that bad to trigger the oil light, better check if there is a dent in the oil pan so that that the distance between the pan and the oil pick up become too close so oil can be pick up.

if you flush your engine, you have to change your oil 2 times at least. say you use seafoam, even after you change it, unless you drop the oil pan and let it drain for a few days, that stuff will still be coated on the walls of the block/head. Why? because seafoam and oil dont mix. Just like water and oil. The seafoam breaks the oil down, however that takes time, so to sum up everything

Using seafoam or other flushing substances in the engine does more harm than good. You will thin your oil out for the next 2 oil changes.

check the oil pressure sending unit, then check the oil pump. the pump might not be putting out enough pressure to satisfy the sending unit.

check your bearings. put a magnetic drain plug on the pan to see if you have some metal in you oil. The way to solve this is to get an oil pressure guage. when the light comes on in your dash its because you have extremely low oil pressure. Also after you find out what your oil pressure is then you can start to diagnose the problem. By checking you bearings and or replacing the oil pump.

SO INSTALL A OIL PRESSURE GUAGE!
