eyyy, i made finally my swap into my 95 dx civic, and definetly you don't need a knock sensor for Vtec, just the solenoid, Vtec pressure switch and ground, with a p28 ecu chipped. i wrote this because my vtec was kicking in and i asked for and many peolpe told me different things about the knock sensor.....but definetly you won't need it!

the only reason you dont need the knock sensoris beacause your chipped p28 bypasses it
