1994 engine knock
my girlfriend just bought a 94 accord lx and it was well taken care of stack of recipts. well it sounds good at idle (500 rpms) but with the hood open and u rev the engine you hear a knocking noise at around 2500k. but when u drive u dont hear nothing sounds normal and has 195k miles on it. any clue on the problem??
Is this a tapping noise, or more a heavy faint knock?
There are mydrid things that go "bump" under a Hondas' hood (Bonnet to those across the pond). Cam Followers (Valve adjustment) Etc.
The problem is the difficulty in diagnosing something on the discription of a noise thru a forum. But we can try

Valve lash adjustment.
Honda calls for periodic cam follower adjustments thru the life of the car (spelled out in your owners manual). My '97 CD720 (F22B2) calls for every 30,000 miles.
It's a simple, straightforward maintaince requiring a minimum of parts.
This all comes about because Honda (in this application at least) uses mechanical cam followers as opposed to hydralic types used by other manufacturers.
